Camping at Beachcomber

Camping... it's our thing! We just came home from our second camping expedition to an awesome camping resort in Cape May, NJ, and we had a BLAST! One of the biggest things we learned from our first experience two weeks ago is that location matters! It's true what they say, it is all about location, location, location... as well as the occassional "this worked, this didn't work" type stuff.

We went to a place called Beachcomber (http://www.beachcombercamp.com/) and we loved it. The site was beautiful, the campsite had tons of amenities and activities and it was primely located only four miles from the beach! It was awesome. Not to mention, three pools, fishing, a swimming lake! Now we have to figure out a way to rent a seasonal campsite location there. (Rob is working on it!)

So our first night there we went to Cape May for dinner at a place called Henry's on the Beach. It was okay, not really what we had in mind, but it was Mason's 7th birthday so we wanted to take him out. Then we walked into the little promenade and ate Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream before heading back "home" to our pop-up.

The kids did great on their first night there (and their second night too). I can't believe three little monkeys slept in the same bed and actually went to sleep! I expected fighting, giggling, or something. Even little Hay Hay went right to sleep in his pack-n-play. I guess the relaxing atmosphere of a camping is just what they needed.

On our second day we spent half the morning looking at other campsites (checking to see if the grass was greener, which is wasn't). We looked at about four or five different sites before comping to the conclusion that Beachcomber rocks! (Again, this is why we are looking for a seasonal site there!) The last part of the day was spent swimming in the pool and the lake with Mason, Isabel and Evelyn. But let me just say, it was only 75 degrees outside, little or no humidity and the water was freezing! But those kids swam until they shivered and their lips turned blue! They loved it... and did I mention I swam with them until I shivered and my lips turned blue too! We are all fish for sure.

Needless to say our little three day/two night camping trip was loads of fun and we can't wait to go back! Our little pop-up has worked out great for us, but I think we already have our sites set on something bigger. :)

We have more photos to show, just click here!

Glad you all have lots of fun camping....Gram Mom's idea of camping is going to the Marriott!!I know you are enjoying your "palace on wheels". Hopefully Roberto will get you a place for the season. Maybe we can plan ahead and come visit you! But no camping for me. Luv you !
